HRA after the 8th CPC

The fitment factor absorbs the DA due on 1 January 2026. We use 60%.

If the fitment factor is 1.92

Basic pay: ₹18,000→₹34,600

Take-home pay: ₹33,200→₹41,324 +₹8,124 a month

₹41,324 = 41 thousand 324 rupees a month

At 1.92, your new basic pay is 20% more than today's basic pay plus DA. That is the real rise; the rest is DA being folded in.

Where the 8th Pay Commission stands

The 8th Pay Commission was set up on 3 November 2025 and has until about May 2027 to report. The fitment factor, the new pay and the date it applies from are not decided yet. DA is 60% from 1 January 2026.

What changes in your pay

If the 8th CPC works the way the 7th CPC did:

  1. Basic pay is multiplied by the fitment factor. ₹44,900 × 1.92 = about ₹86,200.
  2. DA restarts at 0%. Today's DA is folded into the new basic pay, then rises again every six months.
  3. HRA may go back to 24% / 16% / 8% of the new basic pay, as when the 7th CPC started. Change this under “More options”.
  4. TA is revised; we assume today's TA with today's DA folded in, as the 7th CPC did.
  5. Deductions grow with pay: NPS or UPS takes 10% of basic + DA, and more of your pay may fall into income tax.

Questions people ask

How much will my salary increase in the 8th Pay Commission?

It depends on the fitment factor, which is not decided yet. Today's basic pay × fitment factor = new basic pay. Choose your level and basic pay above to see your new basic pay and take-home pay at each fitment factor.

What is the fitment factor?

The multiplier a pay commission uses to convert old basic pay into new basic pay. At the 7th CPC it was 2.57: that covered 125% DA (2.25) plus a real rise of about 14.3%. DA is about 60% now, so only the part above 1.60 would be a real rise.

Will DA become zero?

At past pay commissions, DA was merged into the new basic pay and restarted at 0%. Our calculator assumes the same. That is why gross pay rises less than basic pay.

What could the minimum salary be?

Minimum basic pay is ₹18,000 today. It would be ₹32,900 at a fitment factor of 1.83, ₹34,600 at 1.92, ₹44,300 at 2.46, ₹46,300 at 2.57 and ₹51,500 at 2.86. The staff side has asked for ₹69,000.

Will I get arrears?

If the Government applies the 8th CPC from 1 January 2026 and starts paying the new pay later, the gap is paid as arrears, as at the 7th CPC. Use the arrears calculator for your estimate.

Does this include income tax?

Yes. We work out a full year's tax under the new regime (tax year 2026-27), with the ₹75,000 standard deduction and the rebate up to ₹12 lakh, and show it as a monthly deduction. Tax under the old regime may differ.

Is this an official calculator?

No. It is an independent calculator. Rules come from Government orders, but every 8th Pay Commission figure is an estimate.
