How we calculate
Last checked 22 October 2026
Today's pay follows the published 7th CPC orders listed below. Every 8th Pay Commission figure is a projection built on stated assumptions, because the Commission has not reported yet.
Today's pay (7th CPC)
- Basic pay comes from the 7th CPC pay matrix. Each cell is the previous cell × 1.03, rounded off to the nearest ₹100.
- DA is the latest announced rate × basic pay.
- HRA is 30% / 20% / 10% of basic pay in X / Y / Z cities while DA is 50% or more, at least ₹5,400 / ₹3,600 / ₹1,800. Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad get Delhi rates.
- TA follows the transport allowance table by level, with the higher rate in the 19 listed cities, plus DA on it. Level 1 and 2 staff on ₹24,200 or more get the Level 3 to 8 rate.
- Deductions: NPS or UPS at 10% of basic + DA, rounded up to the next rupee (GPF at 6% of basic for the old pension scheme), CGHS by level, CGEGIS by group, and professional tax if you enter it.
- Income tax is a full year at the month's pay under the new regime for tax year 2026-27, after the ₹75,000 standard deduction, with the rebate up to ₹12 lakh, marginal relief, surcharge and 4% cess.
The 8th CPC projection
- New basic pay = today's basic pay × the fitment factor you choose, rounded to the nearest ₹100.
- DA restarts at 0% on the new pay, as at past commissions.
- HRA is 24% / 16% / 8% of the new basic pay by default, the rates when the 7th CPC allowances started in July 2017. You can keep today's rates instead.
- TA is today's TA with the merged DA folded in, as the 7th CPC did.
- Arrears are the month-by-month difference in basic pay + DA from the effective date to the month new pay starts. Old-pay DA uses announced rates, then an assumed rise every six months; new-pay DA tracks the same price rise from zero.
What we do not model
Old-regime income tax, Children Education Allowance, overtime, special allowances, defence Military Service Pay, and any new pay matrix design. Your actual pay will follow the Government's orders.
